Mike Thebridge

Bio:

Hello, Visual Flux showcases digital Art and design by me, Mike Thebridge. I love creating images and believe they can help individuals embrace and reflect on change. That’s why I make distinct creative work, which inspires and stimulates thought, driving individuals to make positive changes in their world.

Flux, meaning constant change, is the force that drives me. Creating Art helps me reflect on my experiences and make positive changes. I want to share these meditative moments with you. I produce my artworks by blending digital and physical media and share them online through Visual Flux; here you can browse and shop my Art, prints and clothing.

I make my work by digitally layering and editing photographs, drawings and paintings I make of spaces, objects and people. I love to experiment and play with new tools and programs. I capture and document anything I find beautiful, then I process, distil and break up these images. The work will be in a state of flux as I look for balance in the colours and forms. By combining different visual elements, I create a new scene, object or world, which gives you a surreal and colourful reflection of our everyday experience.

Embracing change isn’t easy; having studied painting I was sure I would continue to make art using traditional techniques, but it wasn’t until I started creating work digitally that I felt that what I made was a more truthful reflection of how I experience the world. The process is much quicker than working with physical media and I could work on multiple, divergent ideas at once. This ability to suddenly switch focus reflects how my mind works and allows me to try many different ideas and compositions. Going digital freed me creatively.

Flux, or change, is at the heart of my work and how I process and create images. I don’t feel I am particularly unique, just trying to do what every artist has done: externalise my internal experience of the world, which is always changing. I believe Art should effect positive change in people, so that they can make positive changes in their world. The act of creating helps me reflect on my experiences, whilst giving me a great sense of peace and joy. I hope that you can find a moment of joyful reflection in my work that can drive positive change for you too.

Thank you for visiting my site, I hope you enjoy my Art.
