Marc Schoucair started painting when everything in his life crumbled. The sudden chaos made what he had long treated as an eccentricity an unavoidable necessity. His practice is about boundaries, because he has had none. The work centres on building a network of differences to extract meaning, similar to language where meaning is derived by contrasting elements rather than referencing an external reality. Differences are non-cartesian, which demonstrates distrust for Manichean logic. The boundary, which paradoxically separates and unites at the same time, also opens the question of perspective between form and background and how subjective this choice is. Negative space often stands out versus form, which questions self-perception and the outside world. Marc works and resides in London since 2010.
