Madeleine Shearman
Bio:
Madeleine Shearman is a London based artist. Her work takes the form painting and printmaking. The colourful, largely figurative work, explores an honest and personal reality. Her images intrigue, amuse and challenge.
She graduated from Saint Martins with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting, followed by an MA in Printmaking at The Slade.
In the 1990’s, Madeleine was a member of the Spitalfields’ Art Project. Her work was widely exhibited at this time, including: Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Alternative Arts and several open printmaking exhibitions.
In recent years Madeleine has continued to develop her practice while also teaching at special schools. Working with young people with complex needs has been creatively stimulating and the relationship is symbiotic. Her recent series directly stems from the work she has facilitated with her pupils.
