"When we opened people up, we'd find landscapes." Agnes Varda
I am inspired by nature and the energy in all its colours, lights and shadows. Though instead of landscape, I am trying to capture what this alluring space can often evoke in us: a fleeting emotion, a sensation, a memory, or even an unfamiliar desire. Landscape therefore for me always leads to the inner world and all its complexities, even though we might not understand all of them. This at times layered connection between the exterior and the interior, the visible and the invisible, is what’s always drawing me in. I'd like to think all the colours, brushstrokes, and texture in my paintings present a journey, rather than a destination, that carries those moments of evocations and impressions and invites us to look inside.
